Makai's Newborn Photos {Bitterroot, MT Newborn Photography}

Wow, I have some work to do to get caught up on the blog posting. I've been a bit absent from here lately, but not from shooting. So what brought be back to the blog? I couldn't RESIST sharing Makai's adorable session here. His momma contacted me about halfway through her pregnancy about taking photos of her son's birth. She wins the award for being most on top of it, that's for sure. We kept in touch throughout the remainder of her pregnancy, and about a week after Makai was born, she brought him to my studio.

This dude was little. My son was a super chunk at 8 lbs, 12 oz. Makai was tiny at just under 6 lbs. He was sooooo sweet!

I just love baby toes.

I'd been planning this set up for a while, so I was really looking forward to creating it when I found out this little boy was headed to my studio. But Makai was having a hard time getting comfortable in the Tonka truck, so I handed him to mom to feed and gave him a few minutes to settle down before we tried again. And he thanked me by not only getting cozy in the truck, but cracking this giant grin too! I absolutely love this photo and know I'm going to get a huge print of it for my studio walls.

Mom is a Packers fan, so we had to incorporate that in the shoot. Go Green Bay!

I had so much fun with Makai's shoot. If you know of any newborns, send 'em my way!

Barnhouse Family - Glen, Angela, Connor {Bitterroot, Montana Family Photographer}

It's always a bit surreal to see my friend's kids grow up. I moved away and started a family, so Angela and I had been out of touch for a while. I felt pretty lucky when she'd contacted me to do a family photoshoot. And then I saw her son, who was just  a tot the last time I saw him. He's grown into a handsome young man. And there. I just sounded like my grandma, calling elementary school kids "young men." But it's true. He's growing like a weed. I'd better stop before I inject other grandmotherly idioms into this post!

We had a blast exploring a historical plot of land that is quite literally in their backyard. They'd never really spent much time there, so it was fun showing them how what a cool little piece of Montana history is so close. I wish someone would come show me cool stuff in my backyard. It just seems like a bunch of overgrown weeds back there.

Glen had us laughing the whole time, which I found awesome because I almost never remember seeing him crack a smile.
